Bisping: 'I was offered $500K to fight Jake Paul'
Former UFC star Tyron Woodley will next fight YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul in a lucrative event, but the bout was also offered to former UFC champion Michael Bisping.
The former middleweight titleholder said he's happy Woodley got the fight and revealed the money he could have made if he was Paul's opponent.
"I don't know what (Woodley's) going to get paid, but I'll tell you right now, I was offered $500,000 to fight Jake Paul," Bisping said on the "Believe You Me" podcast, according to MMA Fighting.
"So I would assume it's probably more since the fight's happening. So good for him. He might go out there and might be getting $1 million, and I couldn't be happier for Tyron, because he really deserves it."
Woodley declared the Paul fight will earn him "the biggest purse" of his entire MMA career in one night, a popular refrain among the combat sports athletes who were petitioning for the bout.
Ben Askren reportedly earned a base salary of $500,000 for his April fight with Paul, which reportedly drew more than one million pay-per-view buys.
Woodley went 19-7-1 in the UFC. He won the welterweight belt in 2016 and defended it successfully on four occasions. Bisping went 30-9 in the Octagon and claimed the middleweight belt in 2016, successfully defending it once before losing it to Georges St-Pierre.
