Geoff Neal underwent an extreme weight cut ahead of his unanimous decision loss to Neil Magny at UFC Fight Night this past weekend.

The No. 11-ranked welterweight lost 37 pounds in the week leading up to weigh-ins, he revealed Sunday in an Instagram post. Neal made weight Friday at 171 pounds.

Neal admitted he's dealt with "off and on sickness and severe lack of energy" since a bout with sepsis last summer.

"I almost pulled out of this fight (two weeks ago) because I was vomiting/diarrhea for three days. And after having to rehydrate and replenish what my body lost, I found myself sitting at 208 pounds exactly one week before weigh ins," Neal wrote.

"But I got issues, so I said f--- it and cut 37 pounds in a week anyway. Probably a super dangerous (and) stupid decision, but nothing great ever gets done trying to play it safe."

Neal wrote he plans to take some time off from fighting to tend to his health.

After starting his UFC career with five straight victories and becoming a rising contender in the welterweight division, the 30-year-old is now riding a two-fight skid.
