Jan Blachowicz is set to defend the light heavyweight title against Glover Teixeira at UFC 266 on Sept. 4, UFC president Dana White told ESPN's Brett Okamoto.

Blachowicz is coming off a unanimous decision win over middleweight champion Israel Adesanya at UFC 259 in March. He won the vacant 205-pound belt last September in a fight against Dominick Reyes and is riding a five-fight winning streak.

Teixeira has undergone somewhat of a career resurgence in recent years, as the 41-year-old has won five in a row after an up-and-down stretch from 2016-18. He finished Anthony Smith and Thiago Santos in 2020 to earn a second shot at the UFC light heavyweight title.

Teixeira challenged longtime champion Jon Jones in 2014 but lost a decision.

The UFC hasn't announced a location for its September pay-per-view card.
