In a highly anticipated heavyweight bout, top contenders Ciryl Gane and Alexander Volkov agreed to headline UFC Fight Night on June 26, sources told ESPN's Brett Okamoto.
The promotion is finalizing the fight, and the winner could eventually be in line for a shot at the belt.
Gain (8-0) is considered one of the UFC's top young fighters. The 30-year-old is 5-0 in the Octagon and coming off a dominant unanimous-decision victory over Jairzinho Rozenstruik in February.
"Bon Gamin" was previously linked to a potential battle with Derrick Lewis, but the promotion instead opted to pair him with the 41-fight veteran.
Volkov (33-8) rebounded nicely after last year's loss to Curtis Blaydes, earning two straight TKO wins over Walt Harris in October and Alistair Overeem in February.
The matchup could mean Lewis is next in line to fight newly crowned champion Francis Ngannou if the latter and Jon Jones are unable to come to financial terms for their blockbuster bout.
