Volkanovski, Ortega to coach 'The Ultimate Fighter 29'
UFC featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski and Brian Ortega are set to serve as the coaches for the 29th season of "The Ultimate Fighter," UFC president Dana White confirmed to ESPN's Brett Okamoto.
The show will start filming later in April. A title fight between Volkanovski and Ortega will be booked at the end of the season.
Volkanovski and Ortega were scheduled to square off at UFC 260 last weekend in Las Vegas, but the champion withdrew due to a positive COVID-19 test.
This will be the first season of "The Ultimate Fighter" since 2018.
Volkanovski won the 145-pound title against Max Holloway in December 2019 and was victorious in a rematch last July.
Ortega, the No. 2-ranked featherweight, returned from a nearly two-year layoff in October and dominated Chan Sung Jung.
