White: 'We're working on a Nate Diaz fight'
Nate Diaz could be returning to the Octagon in 2021 if everything goes according to plan.
UFC president Dana White said Wednesday the promotion is in the process of booking a fight involving Diaz. White did not reveal the 35-year-old's potential opponent - nor a timeframe for the contest - but he did say it would take place in the lightweight division.
"We're working on a Nate Diaz fight right now," White told The Mac Life's Oscar Willis.
"It would put him in a really good position if he won the fight," White added. "And the guy who he could potentially be fighting, I think it's a great fight for him, too."
Diaz, one of the biggest stars in mixed martial arts, hasn't competed since a TKO loss to Jorge Masvidal in November 2019. The Stockton native is 1-2 in his past three outings, including a dominant win over Anthony Pettis two years ago and a razor-thin loss to Conor McGregor in 2016.
