The welterweight fight between Leon Edwards and Khamzat Chimaev has been rebooked for the UFC Fight Night main event on March 13, UFC president Dana White told MMA Junkie's John Morgan and Simon Head.

Chimaev and Edwards were originally scheduled to meet on Dec. 19, but the latter withdrew due to a positive coronavirus test. The matchup was rebooked for Jan. 20, but a slow recovery from COVID-19 forced Chimaev off the card.

Edwards hasn't stepped into the Octagon since beating Rafael dos Anjos in July 2019. The No. 3-ranked welterweight was supposed to headline a card against former champion Tyron Woodley last March, but the fight was called off because of the pandemic.

Chimaev is one of the hottest prospects in the promotion. The 26-year-old made his debut in July and won two fights in the span of 10 days, both in dominant fashion. Most recently, "Borz" knocked out veteran middleweight Gerald Meerschaert in 17 seconds last September.

The UFC hasn't yet announced a location for the March 13 event.
