The UFC offered Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirer a fight inside the Octagon following the pair's decision to pursue a charity MMA bout in December, Dana White told Robbie Fox of Barstool Sports.

While White said "we're waiting to hear back from both of them," it appears one side of the bout is already on board:

However, McGregor seemingly remains intent on facing Poirier in the charity match and not under the UFC banner.

McGregor made the proposal to Poirier, a former opponent, via Twitter on Monday night. The Irishman called for them to face off in his home country and for the fight to have "zero to do with the UFC." Poirier quickly agreed.

The former two-division champion's pursuit of an MMA fight outside of the UFC comes amid a public spat with White stemming from McGregor's recent leak of their personal messages.

White, who called McGregor's move "one of the dirtiest things you can do," told Fox he hasn't had any contact with his star fighter since.

McGregor recently said he's also eyeing another crossover into boxing, this time against Manny Pacquiao. He previously lost to Floyd Mayweather during his 2017 debut.

Meanwhile, Poirier missed out on fighting fellow lightweight contender Tony Ferguson at UFC 254 over a pay dispute with the UFC.
