Light heavyweights Lyoto Machida and Phil Davis verbally agreed to face off in the Bellator main event Sept. 11, sources told MMA Fighting's Damon Martin and Guilherme Cruz.

The two met at UFC 163 in August 2013, with Davis earning a unanimous-decision win.

Machida is coming off a September loss to Gegard Mousasi, which snapped a four-fight winning streak. The former UFC champion signed with Bellator in 2018 and holds a 2-1 record in the promotion.

Davis, a former Bellator titleholder, has won two straight, including finishes of Karl Albrektsson and Liam McGeary. The 35-year-old has competed under the Bellator banner since 2015.

The event is expected to take place at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut, the venue that will host the promotion's return on July 24, according to ESPN's Ariel Helwani. Bellator hasn't yet announced the Sept. 11 card.
