A pivotal bantamweight bout between Aljamain Sterling and Cory Sandhagen is in the works for UFC 250 on June 6, sources told MMA Fighting's Damon Martin.

Sterling announced earlier Thursday he has signed a contract for a fight at UFC 250, but he did not reveal his opponent.

Sterling has not stepped into the Octagon since a victory over Pedro Munhoz at UFC 238 last June. "Funk Master" has won four in a row and is currently ranked No. 2 in the division.

Sandhagen is coming off a decision win over longtime contender Raphael Assuncao last August. The 28-year-old is 5-0 in the UFC since making his debut in 2018 and is riding a seven-fight winning streak overall.

UFC 250 is expected to take place at the UFC Apex facility in Las Vegas pending approval from the Nevada Athletic Commission. The event will feature a women's featherweight title bout between two-division champion Amanda Nunes and Felicia Spencer.
