Aljamain Sterling seems to be in no rush to get his next fight scheduled thanks to the coronavirus pandemic.

Reports surfaced Monday the UFC bantamweight contender was targeted to meet Cory Sandhagen at UFC San Diego on May 16, but Sterling said Tuesday on Twitter he has no news to share regarding a fight booking.

"We’ve spoken about a few different opponents," Sterling wrote. "As far as I know, there is no fight announcement. Especially with all this chaos happening.

"I'm OK with waiting," Sterling added.

The 30-year-old said he can no longer train at his gym, Longo-Weidman MMA in New York, as a result of the COVID-19 outbreak.

"It's been a complete ban for everyone and you guys think I’m taking a fight? Yeah, OK," wrote Sterling, who most recently beat Pedro Munhoz in June 2019.

The UFC postponed three events in response to the pandemic, but company president Dana White is adamant the promotion will resume operations as soon as possible, starting with UFC 249 on April 18.

As of now, UFC San Diego is expected to proceed as scheduled, with Dustin Poirier facing Dan Hooker in the main event.
