Walker: Georges St-Pierre could fight right now

UFC light heavyweight Johnny Walker is training with Georges St-Pierre ahead of his next fight and thinks the former two-division champion could still compete in the Octagon.

"He's training every day," Walker told theScore. "He doesn’t have (anything) booked. But he trains every day and he's (active) you know? So if somebody booked his fight. 100% he can fight."

Walker (17-4) is scheduled to face Nikita Krylov at UFC Brasilia and will be looking to bounce back from his TKO loss to Corey Anderson at UFC 244. The setback snapped his nine-fight win streak and prompted a switch in training camps to the famed Tristar Gym in Montreal.

St-Pierre officially retired from MMA a year ago (Feb. 21, 2019) and has become a valuable resource to his Tristar teammates. Walker is a beneficiary of GSP's knowledge and says the 38-year-old has given him some great advice.

"He's helped me give some tricks. Some positions (we've drilled) we've changed positions. So I have a really good experience with him. He teaches a lot. All the time he remembers something and he's happy to adjust some positions so it's really good. He (has) so much experience, so whatever he (wants) to teach is the perfect way you know? And really good."

Walker looks to showcase his newfound skills against Krylov, who he believes is the perfect test for him right now in his career.

"I’m training so hard every day, my body's so sore. I'm so tired and I have to come back in and be ready to train again. I'm really excited for the fight because this guy is really good and he's knocked people out. It's a good challenge for me to test myself."

He added: "I'm really ready to fight three rounds. But I gotta do my best you know? Because I'm ready to knock him out or I'm ready to submit him. Whatever it takes, I'm ready."

UFC Brasilia takes place on Mar. 14 at Ginásio Nilson Nelson Gymnasium in Brasilia, Federal District, Brazil. Former UFC title challenger Kevin Lee battles Charles Oliveria in the main event.
