McGregor: Masvidal fight would be 'more exciting' than facing Usman

Between UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman and Jorge Masvidal, Conor McGregor thinks the latter would make for a more fan-friendly clash.

"They're both exciting bouts. I'd say probably the more exciting of the bouts would probably be myself and Jorge, from a stylistic standpoint," McGregor said at the UFC 246 pre-fight press conference Wednesday evening. "Usman kind of has a similar style of Khabib (Nurmagomedov), the sniff-the-jockstrap style."

"The Notorious," who returns to the cage versus Donald Cerrone in the UFC 246 main event Saturday night in Las Vegas, has expressed interest in staying at 170 pounds to take on both Usman and Masvidal.

When asked, McGregor couldn't decide which fight he'd want more. He said Usman's UFC gold holds more "significance" to him, but he also wants a crack at Masvidal's BMF title.

UFC president Dana White isn't sold on the idea of McGregor continuing at welterweight after fighting Cerrone. He wants McGregor to return to lightweight to face the winner of the Nurmagomedov versus Tony Ferguson tilt and fight for the belt in that division.

McGregor, the most popular fighter in the sport's history, used to hold titles at both 145 and 155 pounds.

The Irishman has been out of action since October 2018, when he lost to Nurmagomedov by submission at UFC 229.
