Report: Zhang vs. Jedrzejczyk title fight in the works for UFC 248
Zhang Weili is expected to defend her UFC strawweight title against former champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk at UFC 248 on March 7, multiple sources told MMA Fighting's Damon Martin.
ESPN's Ariel Helwani hinted the bout was in talks on his show Monday afternoon.
Verbal agreements are reportedly in place for the bout but contracts have yet to be issued.
Zhang defeated Jessica Andrade via a 42-second knockout in August to capture the 115-pound title. She is 4-0 in the Octagon and riding a 20-fight winning streak overall.
Jedrzejczyk, the longest-reigning strawweight champ in UFC history, is coming off a lopsided win over Michelle Waterson in October. Prior to that, she fought Valentina Shevchenko for the women's flyweight title but lost by decision.
Jedrzejczyk won UFC gold in 2015, defending the belt five times before losing it in late 2017.
No location for UFC 248 has been announced at this time.
