Jan Blachowicz defeated Ronaldo "Jacare" Souza via split decision Saturday in the light heavyweight bout that headlined UFC Fight Night in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Blachowicz earned the win after judges scored the fight 47-48, 48-47, 48-47 in his favor.

The five-round duel featured minimal action from start to finish. Souza - who was making his debut at 205 lbs - managed to land only two significant strikes over 25 minutes, according to Michael Carroll of UFC Stats.

The Brazilian fans spent much of the fight waving their phones to help pass time in a match that could be described as slow at best.

Blachowicz improved to 6-1 over his last seven fights, with his lone loss over that stretch coming at the hands of former title challenger Thiago Santos.

Souza, meanwhile, conceded defeat for the third time in his last four trips to the Octagon. His only win in those appearances came against Chris Weidman.
