Report: Edgar's bantamweight debut set for Jan. 25
Former lightweight champion Frankie Edgar will make his 135-pound debut against Cory Sandhagen, according to ESPN's Brett Okamoto.
The bantamweight matchup will reportedly serve as the co-main event for UFC Fight Night on Jan. 25 at PNC Arena in Raleigh.
Edgar (23-7-1) will be competing in his third weight class. He's held the 155-pound strap and came up short three times for the 145-pound championship. The 38-year-old has lost two of his last three fights, including a unanimous decision against champion Max Holloway at UFC 240 in July.
Sandhagen (12-1) is unbeaten in the Octagon and boasts victories over Iuri Alcantara, John Lineker, and Raphael Assuncao. The 27-year-old is a teammate of heavyweight Curtis Blaydes, whose bout with Junior dos Santos headlines the January event.
