Masvidal, Diaz want rematch after BMF title fight cut short
Get ready for Jorge Masvidal and Nate Diaz to run it back.
After their bout Saturday for the "BMF" belt ended via a doctor's stoppage due to a cut over Diaz's eye, both fighters said they want a rematch.
"I swear we're running it back, man," said Masvidal. "He gave me the love, I'm giving it right back. (If the) UFC lets it happen, let's run it back.
"I don't like to leave the ring like this with my opponent conscious."
The doctor said Diaz was unable to continue after the third round of the main event, which was a decision the UFC star disagreed with.
"I didn't think they were gonna stop it, I was just getting ready to get started," said Diaz. "I had a little bit of an issue so I couldn't run as much as I usually do. So, I wasn't really going to push until Round 4. My game plan was starting to kick in, but (Masvidal) got the job done like he was supposed to.
"But I'm coming back for your ass motherf-----!"
Diaz initially called out Masvidal after making a triumphant return to the Octagon in August following a three-year layoff.
The UFC created the BMF title, which Diaz spoke into existence in his challenge to Masvidal, specifically for the Madison Square Garden bout.
