Cro Cop hopes to return in October after suffering list of knee injuries
At 43 years old, Mirko Cro Cop continues to try and defy the limits of the human body.
The Croatia native had to pull out of his Bellator debut this Friday against Roy Nelson after suffering a laundry list of knee ailments. Cro Cop told Ariel Helwani of MMA Fighting he suffered an ACL tear, partial MCL tear, MFL tear, LCL sprain, and MAL tear, which he underwent surgery for on Monday.
Despite the injuries, Cro Cop wants to get back to fighting as soon as possible, hoping to return to action in October. He still has eyes on a rematch with Nelson, who he lost to via TKO in October 2011 at UFC 137.
The typical timeline for just an ACL tear is approximately 10-12 months. If Cro Cop can overcome his knee injuries, it would be something special, though he reminded Helwani that he had returned from a similar injury in a similar time frame back in 2009.
