A day after he tweeted then deleted an explanation for why he climbed a fence at a Bellator event in Dublin and got into it with an official, Conor McGregor offered a sincere apology on Instagram.
"I sincerely apologize for my behavior at last weekend's fight event in Dublin," McGregor wrote. "While trying to support a loyal teammate and friend, I let my emotions get the best of me and acted out of line."
McGregor again chastised referee Marc Goddard (to whom he referred to as "Marc Gonard"), but also allowed that he "overreacted."
The full apology also comes hours after the president of the Association of Boxing Commission said the UFC had pulled McGregor from its UFC 219 card on Dec. 30.
