De La Hoya: I'll come back to fight Conor McGregor

Oscar De La Hoya hasn't fought in nearly a decade, but the legendary boxer is willing to come out of retirement for one dream match.

"I know I can take out Conor McGregor in two rounds. I'll come back for that fight," De La Hoya said Monday on "Golden Boy Radio with Tattoo and the Crew."

The 44-year-old said he's been "secretly training" and claims to be "faster than ever and stronger than ever." He reiterated he'd only need a short amount of time to dispose of McGregor, a champion mixed martial artist who fought Floyd Mayweather Jr. in August.

"Two rounds. Just one more (fight)," he said. "I'm calling him out. Two rounds, that's all I need. That's all I'm going to say."

De La Hoya hasn't fought since retiring on his stool in a 2008 loss to Manny Pacquiao.

McGregor held belts in two weight classes in the UFC before his megafight with Mayweather.

De La Hoya spent much of the spring and summer denouncing the crossover fight between McGregor and Mayweather, believing it disrespected the sport of boxing. UFC president Dana White claims the event broke pay-per-view records, however, drawing 6.7 million buys worldwide.
