Totally bizarre scene at FNG 73. Fans chucking garbage. Diego Brandao leaves the cage. #FNG73 pic.twitter.com/RjwUqS0uS8

Even when drawing the fans' ire, Diego Brandao does things a little differently.
The UFC alum couldn't have brought a more abrupt end to his lightweight bout against Akhmad Aliev at Fight Nights Global 73 in Dagestan, Russia, as he exited the cage in a huff Monday after he and Aliev traded illegal strikes on the mat in the second round.
Brandao appeared to have initiated the illicit exchange by biting Aliev's left ear. The Russian responded with a headbutt to the chest, with Brandao throwing an upkick in retaliation, but going tit for tat with Aliev wasn't enough for the Brazilian. He abruptly climbed out of the cage when officials wouldn't let him leave through the door - all while an enraged audience hurled water bottles at him.
Aliev was ruled the victor by TKO at 3:44 of Round 2 as a result, extending his win streak to six and marking the petulant Brandao's first loss in three fights under the FNG banner.
Brandao wasn't the only subject of controversy on the bill, as Rousimar Palhares got the short end of a questionable split call in his welterweight tilt with Shamil Amirov.
Rousimar Palhares x Shamil Amirov was an awesome fight. Amirov won by SD.(FNG) pic.twitter.com/SRAdNu3way

Palhares stalked Amirov through the first two rounds and came closest to finishing the fight, locking in a kimura and a kneebar in the final frame. With their gas tanks running on empty, the pair closed it out by wildly trading haymakers, with only one of the three judges deeming Palhares' efforts enough for the W.
That third round was hilariously entertaining. Both fighters running on fumes #FNG73 pic.twitter.com/Knm7wJPhk0

The Brazilian - who's now split a pair of bouts in his new home - called for a rematch immediately following the verdict that preserved Amirov's perfect four-fight record.
