After going 1-1 vs. Nate Diaz at the welterweight class of 170 pounds, Conor McGregor says Diaz will need to drop down to the lightweight class of 155 lbs "The Notorious" rules over if he seeks a third installment of the trilogy bout, according to Alexander K. Lee of MMA Fighting.

"I’m the 155-pound champion. I faced him at 170, he beat me, then I rematched him at 170, I beat him," McGregor said. "Now I’m the 155 pound world champion, now if he wants that fight, he must come down - that’s a fair trade. I didn’t ask for the rematch at a lower weight, I asked for the rematch at the exact same weight. I thought that was a fair-play move on my behalf and I came in and I won."

McGregor has yet to defend his title, having jumped to boxing for his superfight with Floyd Mayweather after beating Eddie Alvarez to claim the lightweight belt last November.

After losing the first bout against Diaz, McGregor remained at the welterweight level for the rematch and won.

Should Diaz want to challenge McGregor's belt, it will have to be on the champion's terms.
