Thiago Santos is headed to Poland to face one its most beloved fighters.
"Marreta" will lock horns with newcomer Michal Materla in a middleweight bout on Oct. 21 at UFC Fight Night 118 in Gdansk, MMAjunkie confirmed with a promotional official on Tuesday following a report from Brazil's Combate.
The matchup was rumored to headline the card, although its billing has yet to be confirmed.
Santos, 33, snapped a two-fight skid with a February knockout of Jack Marshman before dispatching Gerald Meerschaert by second-round TKO at UFC 213 last month. The Brazilian heads across the Atlantic with a promotional slate of 7-4, with all but one of his UFC victories coming by way of knockout.
Materla has spent the past 11 years in leading Polish outfit KSW, where he reigned as middleweight champion and won 15-of-18 bouts. The 33-year-old owns victories over UFC alumni Kendall Grove and Tomasz Drwal, and was last seen flattening Rousimar Palhares with an uppercut at KSW 36 last October. He takes a two-fight win streak and a pro record of 24-5 into his UFC debut.
