UFC bantamweight Guido Cannetti accepted a 10-month USADA suspension after testing positive for five banned substances in an out-of-competition sample collected Oct. 5, as announced by the promotion's anti-doping partner in a Friday statement.
Canetti's penance is retroactive to Oct. 28 - the day he was provisionally suspended - making him eligible to return to competition as of this month's end.
The bantamweight tested positive for anabolic agent ostarine and a pair of stanozolol metabolites, along with hydrochlorothiazide and chlorothiazide, both of which are classified as diruetics and masking agents by the USADA. The agency later attributed the flagged sample to a tainted supplement that Cannetti previously disclosed he'd been using.
Cannetti was pulled from a date with Marco Beltran at November's UFC Fight Night 98 as a result of the violation, and hasn't fought since besting Hugo Viana by decision at UFC 190 back in August 2015. The 37-year-old owns a UFC record of 1-1.
