De Randamie: I had no idea I was being stripped of 145-lb title
Germaine de Randamie had to get stripped of her title to show a sign of life.
After she spent much of her four-month reign as the UFC's first female featherweight champion in silence, the UFC announced she was being ousted on Monday, with Cris Cyborg and Megan Anderson now set to clash for the newly vacated belt at UFC 214 in July. De Randamie came out of her bubble moments after the news came down to tell MMA Fighting's Ariel Helwani she'd been filled in through the grapevine.
"I had absolutely no idea that I was being stripped of the belt," De Randamie said. "I found out through social media. Cyborg (Justino) is going to fight Megan (Anderson) for the belt.
"Nobody ever told me anything about it."

De Randamie can't be all that surprised, as she'd previously refused to defend the title against Cyborg in favor of a return to 135 pounds and openly entertained undergoing surgery to repair a long-injured hand. She doubled down on her designs Monday, stating she'd make her next walk to the cage as a bantamweight.
"I'm definitely coming back. I will go back to 135 pounds."
