Werdum dismisses Rockhold's callout: 'I don't fight chickens'
Fabricio Werdum won't be asking Luke Rockhold to fatten up anytime soon.
The No. 1-ranked heavyweight contender and former champion was called out by his middleweight nemesis during Rockhold's appearance on "UFC Tonight" on Wednesday, with Rockhold even saying he would change divisions to settle his long-running feud with Werdum.
Such a bout would be unlikely, though, even taking into consideration some of the quirky matchups the UFC has booked over the past few months. Plus, Werdum isn't particularly interested in fighting Rockhold.
"I only fight people, I don't fight chickens," Werdum told Guilherme Cruz of MMA Fighting. "He's just promoting himself because he knows nobody is talking about him. I'm one step away from the belt. Why would I fight a chicken?"
Rockhold is currently sidelined as he recovers from a knee injury, while Werdum is hoping to land a bout with Cain Velasquez or Alistair Overeem to set up a rematch with UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic.
