The first women's featherweight championship bout in UFC history is on.
Holly Holm and Germaine de Randamie came in comfortably under the 145-pound limit at Friday's weigh-ins for UFC 208 in Brooklyn this weekend. Both fighters have spent the majority of their careers at bantamweight, but moving up a division appears to have presented few problems for either of them.
The lone hiccup at weigh-ins involved debuting heavyweight Justin Willis, a short-notice replacement who was deemed medically unfit to compete against Marcin Tybura. That fight has been canceled.
Aside from Willis, the other 23 fighters scheduled for the card made weight without issue, though former UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva provided some additional drama. "The Spider" was one of the last fighters to show up, but he hit the scales at the 185-pound limit as he has consistently throughout his 20-year career.
Holm and De Randamie face off in the UFC 208 main event to become the inaugural women's 145-pound champion, while Silva meets Derek Brunson in the evening's co-main event.
