Following his fight at Bellator 170 in Inglewood, Christian Gonzalez received an unusual medical suspension even by MMA standards.
The California State Athletic Commission released the post-fight medical report to MMA Fighting on Wednesday, and Gonzalez received an indefinite term on the sidelines for not reporting a stab wound he had suffered prior to fight night.
Considering he would go on to lose by second-round TKO, it's probably lucky that Gonzalez's existing condition didn't lead to anything worse.
Brennan Ward is also out indefinitely after being on the wrong end of a flying knee knockout courtesy of Paul Daley. Four others were suspended for 180 days.
All fighters are eligible to compete before their suspensions run their course, pending clearance from a physician.
