Trinaldo bloodies Felder to win 7th straight fight

Francisco Trinaldo ended an ugly fight with a beautiful message.

The 38-year-old lightweight defeated Paul Felder at UFC Fight Night 95 in Brasilia, Brazil on Saturday when referee Osiris Maia called for a stoppage in the third round due to a bloody cut on Felder's eye.

Following the gruesome ending, Trinaldo vowed that he will create a school where children can train in martial arts for free.

It's understandable that Trinaldo is in a positive mood. He won his seventh straight fight, currently the second-longest winning streak in the 155-pound division behind Tony Ferguson (8). He also recorded his eighth UFC win when fighting in his home country.

Trinaldo's strategy was all about pressure. From the opening bell, he closed the distance and didn't allow the flashy Felder to implement any of his impressive striking techniques. He did most of his damage in the second round when he took Felder down and cut him open with punches and elbows from top position.

Felder started to pick up steam in the third, only to see the fight halted by the referee. After consulting a ringside physician, it was decided that Felder could no longer continue.

It's the first stoppage loss of Felder's career. The setback snaps a two-fight win streak and drops his record to 4-3 in the UFC.
