A fight between Brock Lesnar and Roy Nelson would pit two of the UFC's most unique physiques across from one another and "Big Country" is all for it.
Having turned 40 on Monday, Nelson couldn't be more excited about Lesnar returning to the UFC as he looks for lucrative fights entering the final years of his career.
There isn't a bigger opponent for Nelson than Lesnar and he knows it.
"Because of our styles, the style I fight, Brock Lesnar's name and the way I market myself and now with the UFC push behind me, it would get pushed to a whole new freaking level," Nelson told Damon Martin of FOX Sports.
The rotund Nelson facing off with the chiseled Lesnar would be a sight to see for sure, the kind of visual that could translate to mainstream curiosity.
Lesnar is one of the most popular fighters in MMA history, something that Nelson attributes to his being an oddity even in a sport that already encourages outlandish personalities.
"I'd definitely take that fight. It's definitely a money fight. In the heavyweight division, that's the Conor McGregor," Nelson said. "He just brings a whole other audience. It would be like if Tom Cruise said he wanted to fight, or Shaquille O'Neal, it's just somebody that's so out there and well known.
"If (UFC president) Dana White said he wanted to fight heavyweight, everybody would watch that fight tomorrow just because they want to watch Dana get beat up or win or whatever it is. Because they're just so well known."
Nelson has been a mainstay in the UFC top-10 and a fan favorite for years, but that hasn't always led to moneymaking opportunities. With just two wins in his last seven fights, including a tepid victory against Jared Rosholt in his last outing, he needs an opponent of Lesnar's caliber to get himself back in the spotlight.
