Report: Weidman ruled out of UFC 199 main event vs. Rockhold
Chris Weidman has been ruled out of the main event at UFC 199, where he was slated to fight middleweight champion Luke Rockhold, Damon Martin of FOX Sports reported Tuesday.
Weidman was previously the UFC middleweight champion but lost the title to Rockhold at UFC 194, where he was defeated via technical knockout (punches) in the fourth round of the bout.
No replacement has been announced yet, with the card scheduled for June 4 in Inglewood, California. However, Michael Bisping announced his intention to take on Rockhold if need be.
Rockhold boasts a 15-2 record, winning his past five contests, while Weidman sits at 13-1, his lone defeat coming at UFC 194.
Dominick Cruz will continue as scheduled to defend his bantamweight championship at UFC 199 against Urijiah Faber.
