John Cena has no interest in UFC: 'It doesn't resonate with me'
WWE superstar John Cena has won 15 world titles in professional wrestling, but don't expect him to add a UFC championship to the mantle.
Appearing on Ora.TV, Cena was asked by host Larry King to expound his thoughts on the comparisons between the two leading sports-entertainment organizations.
The always diplomatic Cena praised the UFC while admitting he lacks interest in the product:
"It's done great to establish itself as a brand, but in comparison with us, it doesn't resonate with me just because I'm a storyteller," Cena said. "I enjoy the story that we can tell in the ring. And like I said, I think we do it better than everyone."
Cena was unable to explain the precise reason the UFC hasn't caught on with him, though he gave full credit to those brave enough to dedicate themselves to mixed martial arts.
"It truly has marketed itself extremely well. It has fantastic exposure and there's no denying the athletic ability that it takes to step in the Octagon. It's not something I could do," Cena said. "And I'm not taking anything away from anyone in the UFC because their success speaks for themselves, but as far as it resonating with me, it's just not something I'm a fan of."
