VIDEO: Insane exchange of goals forces extra time between FC Dallas, Seattle Sounders
For 84 minutes, the second leg of the Western Conference Semifinals between FC Dallas and the Seattle Sounders looked set to end as a scoreless draw, a result that would have allowed the latter to advance 2-1 on aggregate.
Then, all hell broke loose.
It all started when FC Dallas' second-half pressure was finally rewarded in the 84th minute, as Tesho Akindele capped off a pinball-like sequence that leveled the score on aggregate, but gave the Texan club the advantage on away goals.
However, just when it seemed like FC Dallas had punched its ticket to the Western Conference Championship, Seattle flipped the semifinal on its head, as Chad Marshall produced a header of his own, putting the Sounders up 3-2 on aggregate, and silencing Toyota Stadium.
Supporters of FC Dallas could be forgiven for thinking their club's season was over following Marshall's goal. Little did they know Walker Zimmerman, who hadn't tallied a single goal all season, would turn the tables once again only 72 seconds later and level the score on aggregate at 3-3, forcing extra time.
