Major League Soccer credits Giovinco with Toronto's 1st goal vs. Chicago
Sebastian Giovinco made history on Saturday, one way or another.
Major League Soccer just decided what kind of history he made.
Giovinco became the first player in MLS to register at least 20 goals and 10 assists in a single season after the league credited the Italian with Toronto FC's first strike in a 3-2 win over Chicago on Saturday.

Initially, Giovinco was awarded an assist. He swung an excellent ball off the outside of his foot right into the net, but teammate Jonathan Osorio appeared to nick it on its way in.
That gave Giovinco 19 goals and 16 assists - enough to break the record for the most points (35) by an MLS player in a single season.
The 28-year-old still holds that title even with the correction. But he can now add one more distinction to his growing legend in MLS.
