We settled for a 1-1 record on Matchday 4, but it's been a solid start to the K League season nonetheless. We've managed an 8-6-1 record through three weeks, netting the $100 bettor $378 in profits.

It's fine, but I'd like to make you some more this week, so let's dive into Matchday 5.

Gangwon (-110) at Incheon (+295), Draw (+250)

Kim Byung-soo's side is riding high after last weekend's shock win over defending champions Jeonbuk Motors. A 15th-minute red card helped Gangwon jump out to an early lead and they never looked back.

This week, they're forced to leave the friendly confines of Gangneung Stadium, where they've played three of four matches this season, and take to the road looking to end an 11-match winless run away from home. Over that miserable span, Gangwon have lost eight matches and drawn three, scoring just eight goals.

While hosts Incheon were picked apart by Pohang on Matchday 4, they were previously unbeaten in seven matches at home. They are a disciplined, well-organized side that will give Gangwon fits in possession and should extend the club's lengthy winless run away from home.

Pick: Incheon +0.5 (-115), Draw (+250)

Ulsan Hyundai (+125) at Pohang Steelers (+225), Draw (+240)

This is shaping up to be the game of the weekend between a Pohang side that is in terrific form and an Ulsan side that's my pick to win the K League. It's also a match between the two top-scoring clubs this season. Ulsan lead the league with nine goals thus far, and Pohang are second with eight.

Don't expect the goals to dry up when the clubs meet at the Steelyard. Pohang kept just four clean sheets in their last 14 home matches (against three of the lowest-scoring teams in the division) and failed to score once in their last 13 home matches. Meanwhile, Ulsan kept three clean sheets in their last 17 away matches and failed to score once in their last 20 road fixtures. Over 2.5 has cashed in 14 of Ulsan's last 18 away matches.

Furthermore, eight successive meetings between these clubs at the Steelyard have gone over 2.5 goals, with 30 total goals scored in those matches. Expect another high-scoring affair.

Pick: Over 2.5 (-106)

Full card:

  • Incheon +0.5 (-115)
  • Incheon/Gangwon draw (+250)
  • Jeonbuk Motors (-123)
  • Pohang/Ulsan over 2.5 (-106)
  • Seongnam/Daegu under 2 (-108)
