With Zlatan Ibrahimovic's contract set to expire in December, the Los Angeles Galaxy star appears to be intrigued by the possibility of joining Napoli in the future.

"After watching the recent documentary about (Diego) Maradona, I'd be quite keen to experience Napoli, maybe replicate what Diego achieved," he said in an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, as translated by ESPN FC.

"With me, San Paolo would always be full and (Carlo Ancelotti) is a great manager. But the final decision would depend on several things."

Maradona cemented himself as a club legend during seven seasons at Napoli, leading the team to a pair of Serie A titles and other trophies until his departure in 1991.

Ibrahimovic has also graced the pitches in Italy following spells at Juventus, Inter, and AC Milan.

But, before the 38-year-old forward can really begin to focus on his next move, he has some unfinished business in Major League Soccer, as he gears up for his first playoff run with Los Angeles.

The 2018 MLS Newcomer of the Year ended his second MLS season with 29 goals in 28 matches.
