The LA Galaxy will be without top goalscorer Zlatan Ibrahimovic for their next two matches after Major League Soccer's disciplinary committee suspended the Swedish star for "violent conduct" during last week's loss to New York City FC, the club announced Friday.

Ibrahimovic, who was also issued an undisclosed fine for the incident, will miss Sunday's home game against the Colorado Rapids and his team's trip to Orlando City on May 24.

The suspension comes less than a week after Ibrahimovic was involved in a physical altercation with NYCFC's Sean Johnson. Following a scoring opportunity, Johnson bumped into Ibrahimovic, who reacted by putting his hand around the goalkeeper's neck before both players dropped to the ground.

They were both issued yellow cards after the match, which NYCFC won 2-0 to extend the Galaxy's losing streak to three matches.

It's the second time this season that Ibrahimovic has been disciplined; he was fined last week for diving against the Columbus Crew. He's been suspended three times since joining the Galaxy last year.

The 37-year-old is responsible for scoring half of his club's goals this campaign, as he's found the back of the net nine times in 10 matches.
