Trump calls out Cubs ownership: 'They better be careful'
Rob Grabowski / USA TODAY Sports
Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump took a shot at the ownership group of the Chicago Cubs on Monday morning.
I hear the Rickets family, who own the Chicago Cubs, are secretly spending $'s against me. They better be careful, they have a lot to hide!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) February 22, 2016
Campaign financial reports show that Marlene Ricketts contributed $3 million to Our Principles PAC - a group that has spent millions publishing adds and videos opposing Trump.
The Ricketts family, headed by son Thomas, bought the Cubs in 2009 for roughly $875 million.
Trump easily won South Carolina's primary over the weekend and is expected to earn the Republican nomination.
