VIDEO: Rodriguez unleashes flurry of punches on cooler
Emotions boiled over during the wild-card game in Pittsburgh on Wednesday, when Chicago Cubs right-hander Jake Arrieta was hit by a Tony Watson pitch in the seventh inning.
After being ejected for his role in the benches-clearing incident, the Pirates' Sean Rodriguez lost his cool in the dugout.
Replays showed Rodriguez attempting to throw punches during the melee before the first baseman was quickly ushered off the field by teammate Travis Snider.
Rodriguez had started the game for Clint Hurdle's Pirates for his defensive abilities but was replaced by Pedro Alvarez prior to the fourth with Pittsburgh trailing 4-0.
Tempers flared in the pivotal winner-take-all after Watson appeared to exact revenge on Arrieta for hitting a pair of Pirates earlier in the game.
