The venues, dates, and pools for the qualifying round of the 2017 World Baseball Classic were revealed Thursday.
With 12 teams having already qualified, 16 remaining nations were placed in four groups of four teams. The winner of each group clinches a berth into the 2017 WBC.
Qualifying begins in February 2016.
QUALIFIER 1 - Sydney, Australia (Feb. 11-14)
- Australia, New Zealand, Philippines, South Africa
QUALIFIER 2 - Mexicali, Mexico (March 17-20)
- Mexico, Czech Republic, Germany, Nicaragua
QUALIFIER 3 - Panama City, Panama (March 17-20)
- Colombia, France, Panama, Spain
QUALIFIER 4 - Brooklyn, N.Y. (Sept. 22-25)
- Brazil, Great Britain, Israel, Pakistan
Mexico, Brazil, Spain, and Australia are all among the qualifiers that appeared in the 2013 WBC.
Canada, China, Chinese Taipei, Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, Puerto Rico, South Korea, the United States, and Venezuela have already qualified.
