Despite plenty of interest, it appears Chase Utley will play out the remainder of the season as a member of the Philadelphia Phillies.
"I don't think that Chase has that desire to leave, frankly," general manager Ruben Amaro told reporters. "And the Phillies don't have the desire to move him out of here. We're going to [be] open-minded about all of the opportunities that present themselves over the next couple weeks."
The 13-year veteran made it public that he would listen to prospective trade offers out of respect to the organization, with the San Francisco Giants, Los Angeles Angels, and New York Yankees among teams having expressed some level of interest in the second baseman.
Utley has the ability to block any deal due to his 10-and-5 rights, and was said to only be willing to accept a trade should he be guaranteed playing time.
After struggling through the first four months of the season, the 36-year-old appears to have turned a corner over the last week, hitting .500/.500/.808 with one home run and five doubles in seven games.
He has spent his entire career in Philadelphia, and while his $15-million option for 2016 likely won't vest due to his inability to reach 500 plate appearances, his contract includes a $2-million buyout.
