Report: Phillies' Utley eligible to be traded after clearing waivers

The longest tenured current member of the Philadelphia Phillies is now eligible to be traded away.

Chase Utley has cleared waivers and can be dealt to any team, according to multiple reports. The second baseman does, however, have the ability to veto any deal due to his 10-and-5 rights.

The six-time All-Star was placed on revocable waivers on Sunday and has expressed an openness to listen to a potential move out of respect to the rebuilding organization that he's spent his entire 13-year career with.

"Like I've said all along, I would be more than happy to listen to them," Utley told Todd Zolecki of MLB.com Sunday. "I do love Philadelphia. I've had a great time playing here, but out of respect for them, I would definitely listen to them."

Utley, who is owed roughly $4.5 million for the remainder of the year, is in the midst of a career-worst season, but is 5-for-13 with three doubles since coming off the disabled list. He offers a veteran infield presence for a postseason bound team.

The Los Angeles Dodgers, New York Yankees, San Francisco Giants, and Chicago Cubs were all among teams rumored to be interested in Utley.

If the Phillies do intend to trade Utley, they'll have to do so before the Aug. 31 waiver deadline.
