Franco's 1st career grand slam leads red-hot Phillies over Dodgers

On a night when the Philadelphia Phillies were reminded of the past, Maikel Franco offered a glimpse of the future.
The 23-year-old third baseman broke a 1-1 tie in the eighth inning Tuesday after launching a 373-foot grand slam off Los Angeles Dodgers reliever Joel Peralta.
The blast was the first grand slam of Franco's career and was the first by a Phillies rookie since Ryan Howard in 2005.
Franco's home run spoiled the homecoming of former Phillies shortstop Jimmy Rollins. The three-time All-Star spent the first 15 seasons of his career in Philadelphia before accepting a trade to Los Angeles in December.
The Phillies, who are 13-3 since the All-Star break, hung on for the 6-2 win.
