The only move the Los Angeles Angels made on deadline day was one to the disabled list.

Left-handed starter C.J. Wilson was placed on the 15-day DL on Friday with inflammation in his left elbow.

Wilson, who was rocked for six runs off six hits and three walks during his start on Tuesday, has had fluid drained from his elbow once already this season.

The 34-year-old is 8-8 with a 3.89 ERA and 1.24 WHIP across 21 starts this season, while collecting 110 strikeouts in 132 innings.

The blow of losing Wilson is softened by the fact that Jered Weaver is expected to return from the DL next week. The Angels would have been forced to likely move Matt Shoemaker to the bullpen, but can now delay that decision for at least the next two weeks.

Los Angeles called up right-hander Drew Rucinski in a corresponding move.
