Reds win Competitive Balance Lottery for 2016 draft

The Cincinnati Reds were the big winners of the Competitive Balance Lottery after being awarded the first selection of Round A on Wednesday.

Cincinnati, which had the third-highest probability of drawing the top pick at 9.5 percent, outdrew the Arizona Diamondbacks (18.2 percent), and Colorado Rockies (16.5 percent).

The purpose of the Competitive Balance Lottery is to give teams that have one of the 10 smallest markets or 10 smallest revenue pools one of six additional choices after each of the first and second rounds of the MLB draft.

Here's how the competitive balance picks will fall following the first round of next year's draft:
