Toronto Blue Jays first baseman Edwin Encarnacion (shoulder) is out of the lineup Monday against the Miami Marlins, reports Sportsnet's Barry Davis.
Analysis:
After leaving Saturday's game with a shoulder injury, Encarnacion hoped to be ready to go by Monday; however, he remains out of the lineup for the series opener against the Marlins. While his numbers are down this year -- he's hitting only .219 -- that could be a result of his nagging shoulder injury. Encarnacion's biggest problem has always been staying on the field, so fantasy owners and Blue Jays fans alike will certainly be hoping the cortisone shot Encarnacion received recently will help him stay healthier moving forward.
