Cobb (elbow) got a platelet-rich plasma injection in his elbow Monday, and he'll be shut down from all baseball activities until at least next week, Steve Carney of 620 WDAE reports.
Analysis:Cobb hopes to start playing catch in two weeks, which essentially rules him out for the rest of May, shortly after he was diagnosed with a partially-torn UCL. He said that Tommy John surgery is the last option, but he also acknowledged that it would be best to make a final decision within the next month, as he'd likely miss all of 2016 if he waited until July or August to have the procedure. Many pitchers have been down this road before, and it usually leads to Tommy John surgery. On a more positive note, Cobb believes he suffered the injury back in March, and yet he reported throwing bullpen sessions without any pain as recently as late April.
