The St. Louis Cardinals placed catcher Tony Cruz on the three-day paternity list Friday.
Ed Easley has been recalled from Triple-A Memphis to serve as Yadier Molina's backup for this weekend's series with the Cincinnati Reds.
Cruz has yet to appear in a game this season, but hit .225 with three home runs and 47 RBIs in 50 games last year for the Cardinals.
