The Los Angeles Dodgers are close to signing Taiwanese reliever Chin-hui Tsao to a minor-league contract, reports Bill Shaikan of the Los Angeles Times.

Tsao hasn't pitched professionally in five years after getting expelled from the Taiwanese league for allegations of game-fixing. The Dodgers are believed to have received approval from the MLB commissioner's office to purse the right-hander.

The 33-year-old does have previous major league experience, however, appearing in 21 games for the Dodgers in 2007 plus parts of three seasons with the Colorado Rockies between 2003-2005. He has a 5.40 ERA and 1.39 WHIP in 50 career outings.

It's unclear if Tsao's deal will include an invite to spring training.
