The Baltimore Orioles have responded to multiple earlier reports indicating the team offered A.J. Burnett a one-year contract.
An Orioles official shot down the rumor, telling the Baltimore Sun's Eduardo A. Encina that the team has not made the free agent veteran pitcher a contract offer.
Encina points out the Orioles already have their hands full with contract negotiations, notably with outfielders Nick Markakis and Nelson Cruz. They also have a number of arbitration-eligible starting pitchers (Bud Norris, Chris Tillman, Miguel Gonzalez) to deal with.
Burnett, who racked up 18 losses last season, has also been linked to the Pittsburgh Pirates this offseason.
